I chose my Spaces and Places essay and adapted it to a photo essay because the experience I had at the Department of Homeland Security would be explained a lot better if the audience can see it through pictures. This was one of my favorite essays because I actually had the chance to experience it myself, to be there and see how everything played out, I had the chance to feel the people's tension at the place and what they have to go through.
I revised my Memoir essay by adding more details towards the end of the paragraph, making a connection back to my first paragraph where I explained how I got interested in Human Smuggling. I also added pictures to my essay so people can make a connection to my memoir and understand it better. I made sure that there is a clear transition between paragraphs so it isn't so jumpy that way the readers don't get lost.
I also chose my Profile essay, when I wrote this essay I did it in first person because I was telling the story about "Maria" from her perspective and I didn't add her name in it, now I revised it and changed it to second person because it gives you the opportunity to read the essay from your point of view, like it's happening to you. I also added a name to it "Maria" although that isn't her real name, so I could protect her identity.
I chose these pieces for the magazine because I felt like I did my best on them, I worked really hard on all of my essays but these three really got to me, what people go through because of Human Smuggling is horrible and I think the audience can obtain more knowledge and understand about my issue, Human Smuggling, by reading these pieces I chose.
